About Tilly Hinton

Dr Tilly Hinton is a higher education consultant, specialising in grants and awards strategy and development. Tilly is an adept researcher, having spent more than a decade working in higher education management, research and policy. Her work has attracted recognition through nationally-funded grant projects focussed on improving dissemination and impact in scholarship of learning and teaching research. The scope of her work has spanned education, management, leadership, writing, editing, research project management, and policy advice.

Tilly has established a national profile in the scholarship of learning and teaching, and as an independent consultant since 2014 she has worked with clients including the Commonwealth Government, Central Queensland University, Monash University, Newcastle University, University of Bath, Keele University, RMIT University, Curtin University, the University of New South Wales, the University of the Sunshine Coast, and the University of Queensland.

Her model for research impact, the Impact Management Planning and Evaluation Ladder (IMPEL) was adopted by the peak Australian learning and teaching funding body, the Office for Learning and Teaching, in 2014 as a core requirement for all grant-funded projects, underpinning more than $14.7 million of research and development activity in the Australian sector.

Tilly is an accomplished facilitator, grant and award strategist, events mastermind, writer and sounding board for all things learning and teaching.
